• Dirk Pittard, Principal of St Wilfrid’s Academy, IQM Ambassador and Assessor
Workshop Outline

The focus of this workshop is on how a school from any phase could benefit from utilising a multiagency approach to early intervention.
Dirk will share strategies his school has implemented to assemble a multiagency team of colleagues within Doncaster and how this has added not only additional staffing capacity available to support learners in school and the wider community but how it could potentially be implemented at little or no cost to the school.
For you to take away – Dirk will share St Wilfrid’s published evaluation and data of the impact of operating a multiagency approach since November 2021 which could be adapted within your own context in approaching agencies in your Local Authority.
• This workshop is suitable for all educational phases from primary through to Secondary and Special.
Presenter’s Details
Dirk Pittard is the Principal of St Wilfrid’s Academy in Doncaster and the school is part of the Delta Multi Academy Trust. It is a 125 place alternative provision setting offering KS2 and KS3 pupil assessments, short term intervention placements, and longer-term programmes for KS4 pupils.
As a school St Wilfrid’s is committed to multi-agency outreach work providing the support and challenge to mainstream colleagues to think outside the box in terms of the way in which they meet the needs of their high tariff students.
St Wilfrid’s has a strong track record in terms of successfully re-integrating pupils back into mainstream schools. As a result of the impact of its outstanding provision it is now supporting other LAs to set up similar task forces based on the St Wilfrid’s model as this approach has been shown to be highly cost effective for the Local Authority and early help agencies. In 2023/24 St Wilfrid’s Academy was accoladed with the IQM National Champion Award in recognition of their outstanding inclusive practice.
The DfE has further recognised the outstanding Delta AP delivery model by awarding the Trust four new AP Free Schools as part of the Wave 15 and they are due to open in 2027.
