• Emily Ruth Greenhalgh, Director, Proprietor, Headteacher of Hopefields School, Middlesbrough, Teesside
Workshop Outline
The focus for this workshop is to recognise the issues around EBSA and details three main routes for improving attendance for those who struggle to come to school.
- Receiving the appropriate funding and support for all learners, working alongside the Local Authority
- The Nurtured Heart Approach (a relationship-based approach Hopefields use with students and families) including small changes you can ‘take-away’ to embed a change of mindset and culture in your school amongst staff and students
- The legalities around negotiating the part-time timetable and reintegration support for learners to ensure success at all levels.
• This workshop is aimed at schools who have a high persistent absenteeism rate, or any settings who are looking to improve attendance of one or more young people. If you are interested in The NHA and The Inner Wealth Experience, this workshop will also give you an opportunity to start the journey of a relationship based approach to education, focusing on transforming children’s self-worth and changing mindsets of staff.
Presenter’s School
Hopefields is a specialist independent school with an Alternative Provision and accompanying outreach service catering for children with SEMH, Autism and complex needs. It currently has 40 students on roll, most with an EHCP. Working within one of the most deprived localities within the UK, the school’s mantra is: to disrupt the system within the confines of the system. As a Nurtured Heart Practising school, Hopefields is one of only a small number of education providers who subscribe fully to ‘The Inner Wealth Experience’ of positive behaviour approaches and extremely high standards, all based on transformational greatness of all staff, students, families and stakeholders.
