Knotty Ash is a small primary in Liverpool, 16% of pupils have an EHCP and the school has a Deaf resource-based provision. Every child in the school learns how to communicate using sign language and we are delighted that their signing choir will be performing at the conference.

In 2019 Knotty Ash felt that their curriculum had become encumbered and decided to write a new curriculum from scratch. The school took inspiration from the Oxfam Global Citizenship Curriculum. The half termly global themes have three golden threads running through them; inclusion and diversity, safeguarding and mental health and wellbeing.
These golden threads have progression built in across the years and are an integral part of the taught curriculum. The result is a fully inclusive curriculum accessed by all pupils regardless of need. Pupils feel that they are learning for a purpose and are truly invested in their learning. As a result engagement in lessons is outstanding and the quality of writing has dramatically improved.
