Janice Lewis
IQM Assessor
Janice Lewis is a professional and committed practitioner who has been working in education for over 20 years. She has worked in the London Borough of Havering for nearly 17 years. In this time she has progressed from class teacher to senior leadership, and for just under 5 years has held the post of Deputy Principal.
Janice’s chief additional responsibilities include Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENCo, a post she has held for the last 8 years. Janice has a passion for inclusion and is tenacious in ensuring children’s differing needs are met.
Janice’s strengths include her organisational skills, ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, flexibility and adaptability to change. She also enjoys working with other less experienced colleagues, mentoring or coaching them to achieve their potential.
Within the Oasis Trust, Janice sits on the SENCo Strategy Group. This group comprises a number of SENCos from across Oasis schools in England who work together strategically to ensure they are aware of government initiatives that may impact upon the provision for SEN in their settings, and plan accordingly.
Janice also attends termly IQM cluster meetings across the South East region, sharing ideas and good practice. She also sit on the SENDIASS panel as a Primary School representative in Havering.
