Northwood Park Primary School is a friendly and family orientated school which prides itself engaging parents and children in a friendly and meaningful way. The motto of the school is “Be Kind, Be Brave, Be Proud” – this set of values is evident across the school and instructs the expectations which underpin learning and teaching across the school. Staff are well supported and a clear structure of responsibility allows every staff member to understand their own roles and use their imitative. The school is committed to inclusion and communication with parents and students.

Northwood Park Primary School embraces the SHINE Trust values of collaboration, courage and compassion. They encourage students to be kind, ambitious, honest, independent, resilient and creative from Reception to Key Stage 2. These values promote knowledge, engaged learning, and the personal development of new skills for each child. Students open doors for one another, interactions between staff and students are positive, and peer-to-peer support is evidenced. Independence is encouraged, but this is supported by the ability to ask for help at any time. Each year group has a separate space which is used to support learning, promote regulation, and make year group resources available. Pupils are very happy to attend Northwood Park and particularly enjoyed the lunchtime clubs on offer, the friendships they’ve built with other students, and the use of the new Class Dojo class rewards system that allows each student to have points tracked, which is shared with parents also.

Eric the therapy dog has been an extremely positive influence and is very popular. Eric visits the school on a regular basis and provides emotional comfort to students, promoting a happy and calm environment.

Northwood Park has worked hard to develop clear identification of SEND across all year groups, to better monitor and support these students. The school benefits from a stable and dedicated team of SEND staff. The experienced SENDCo has led the team to deliver bespoke CPD to all staff and plan personalised and suitable support strategies for pupils.

The SEND team are hard at work monitoring, reviewing and providing guidance across the school. This empowers all children to be positive in their learning. The Speech and Language TA screens every new child as they arrive at school, and this early intervention allows all children to gain skill in speaking and listening and grow their self-confidence. A staff member has undergone ELKLAN training to help support development of children, and the school has access to a Local Authority SaLT provider which allows children with more complex issues to be supported. Northwood Park has a dedication to empower all learners.

Including parents

Northwood Park remains dedicated to extending parental involvement. The school has been making many different types of events and activities available at different types for parents and carers. Family film nights have been hosted, and the “stay and play” sessions each term are well attended. Parents and carers of SEND pupils regularly attend and work with the school, attending drop-offs and pick-ups, and building a relationship with the Family Liaison Team.

We are proud to award Northwood Park Primary Flagship School Status!
