Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) is delighted to announce the Liverpool LA has recently committed to financially supporting its schools to achieve formal recognition for their inclusive practices.

To support the schools along the way, the LA in conjunction with the Liverpool Primary Headteachers’ Association (LPHA), has decided to cover the registration cost and the assessment costs for each of its schools. It is the first Local Authority in the UK to provide this exciting opportunity to all of its primary schools.
So far 101 of the schools eligible in the Liverpool LA have registered their interest and are on their way to securing the nationally recognised Inclusive School Award. Many of them will progress even further on this journey to achieve an IQM Centre of Excellence award.
Speaking on behalf of IQM, Managing Director Joe McCann said the company is delighted to be working with the LA and the LPHA to bring this exciting opportunity to Liverpool schools.
He explained, “Liverpool is the first local authority in the UK to cover both the registration and assessment costs for its school. It should be applauded for giving this level of support to its schools to recognise their inclusive practices. It’s vitally important for the life chances of pupils that their schools strive to be inclusive. The Inclusive School Award gives schools recognition of their inclusive practice and ongoing commitment to developing this further in education.
“We look forward to more LAs following Liverpool’s example and committing to recognising inclusion in this way.”
