Ten schools in Suffolk have recently received the prestigious Inclusive School Award with Centre of Excellence status from Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM).
The status demonstrates the work being done in Suffolk to become more inclusive in education.
The schools – Houldsworth Valley PS, Woodhall PS, Kessingland CE Primary Academy, Red Oak Primary School, Burton End Primary Academy, Exning Primary School, St Margaret’s CE Primary School, Castle Manor Academy, Thomas Gainsborough School and Clements Primary Academy – have each built on their initial IQM awards to become Centres of Excellence. In doing so the schools have all demonstrated they are committed to sustaining and developing education that is inclusive for all their pupils.
A further three schools within Suffolk are due to be assessed over the next term, with another 20 currently working their way to securing an Inclusive School Award.
Welcoming the achievement was Suffolk County Councillor Rachel Hood, Cabinet Member for Education, SEND and Skills. Cllr Hood said, “It is really exciting that these schools in Suffolk have been named IQM Centres of Excellence. This award means these schools are providing an inclusive learning environment where individual pupils can thrive. This in turn will help them to reach their full potential as they move forward in life.
“The standard set up IQM is high so these schools can really call themselves centres of excellence. We would love to see more schools in Suffolk get involved with this great initiative.”
