Congratulations to St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School on successfully retaining the IQM Inclusive School Award with Flagship School status. This outstanding achievement reflects the school’s continued dedication to inclusive excellence, pupil wellbeing, and ensuring that every child is supported to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. This well-deserved recognition celebrates the hard work, passion, and commitment of the entire school community in creating an environment where every child can flourish. 

Excellence Through Inclusion 

St Andrew’s is continually developing its excellent practice on inclusion. The school’s commitment to academic, physical and emotional success underpins every decision and action within the school. Through strategic planning, targeted interventions and a strong value-driven culture, St Andrew’s continues to strive for excellence and aims to provide every child with the opportunity to succeed in all areas of their development. 

Enrichment Beyond the Classroom 

The school has a dedicated portacabin that is used to provide a range of enrichment opportunities, including music activities, cooking sessions and the breakfast and after-school clubs. In the playground, a vibrant mural prominently displays the school’s core values of faithfulness, joy, kindness, peace, love and perseverance, reinforcing these principles within the school environment. 

Wellbeing At Heart 

During the tour of the school, a strong commitment to promoting wellbeing throughout the learning environment was observed. A range of displays reflected this whole-school approach, including the ‘Ins and Outs’ display, which celebrated the educational visits, trips and visitors that enrich the children’s experiences. A feelings display featured quotes from children, providing opportunities for them to express and reflect on their emotions. There was also a ‘Celebrating Neurodiversity’ display, alongside information boards highlighting the support available through the ASC Advisory Service. 

Supporting Every Child 

Within classrooms, a variety of strategies were in place to support children’s emotional wellbeing and self-regulation. These included affirmation stations fixed and growth mindset displays, regulation stations, worry boxes and both whole-class and individual visual timetables. Collectively, these resources demonstrated a consistent and inclusive approach to supporting the children’s wellbeing, emotional literacy and engagement in learning. 

Parents As Partners 

Parents spoke highly of the support provided by the school for their children, particularly in relation to individual needs. Parents unanimously agreed that communication is clear, consistent and accessible, with staff readily available at the start and end of the school day. Parents also highlighted the school’s strong focus on emotional support, noting that resources are shared to support learning at home. This includes a structured ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) support pack containing practical tools, guidance materials and affirmation cards designed to support understanding and emotional wellbeing.

Parents also highlighted the school’s strong focus on emotional support, noting that resources are shared to support learning at home.
