Congratulations to everyone at Murray Park Community School on achieving the IQM Inclusive School Award with Centre of Excellence status. An outstanding recognition of the dedication, ambition and pride shown across the entire school community. This well-deserved achievement celebrates a culture where every pupil is encouraged to belong, flourish and make a meaningful contribution, supported by committed leaders and staff who place young people at the heart of everything they do. 

Belonging Fuels Excellence 

Leaders have successfully created a culture of ‘belonging’ and the school’s vision is to “provide an ambitious and inspirational education” for all their pupils through a strong set of values: Perseverance; Respect; Independence; Dreams and Excellence (PRIDE) and these drive their unwavering commitment to ensuring that all pupils receive an exceptionally positive educational experience, regardless of their starting points, needs or circumstances. 

Pupil Voices Matter 

Pupils confidently shared their experiences and aspirations, highlighting the school’s focus on belonging. All presented with positive attitudes, able to speak with confidence, They spoke openly and honestly about their experiences and how “teachers have our best interest at heart,” articulating specific examples of how they are supported. Pupils also described how the Pupil Parliament enables them to influence change, citing examples such as additional outdoor benches and more bins on the field, which reflect their pride in and respect for the school community. 

Success Beyond Classrooms 

The Charter for Success provides a structured framework through which pupils record and celebrate their wider achievements. Pupils regularly review their participation in enrichment activities and Personal Development opportunities, earning badges and certificates that are worn with pride. Leaders use this information to evaluate participation and identify future opportunities that will broaden pupils’ experiences further. 

Young Leaders Act 

Pupils benefit from a wide range of leadership opportunities and are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to school improvement. The Pupil Parliament plays a particularly active role within the school community and is entrusted with a substantial annual budget to support projects identified by pupils. Parliament members consult widely with their peers, develop proposals, and participate in democratic decision-making processes. Current plans include creating a memorial in honour of a former member of staff, demonstrating pupils’ sense of responsibility and community awareness.
