Kingsdale Achieves Flagship School Status

Kingsdale Foundation School in Dulwich has been awarded IQM Flagship School status.

Background and Context

Kingsdale Foundation School is a stand-alone academy and is a large mixed secondary school, which puts students at the center of everything they do. The school is heavily oversubscribed and is growing. There are over 1700 students now on roll. There has been a significant change (over the last five years) in the school population in terms of ability and motivation and the school is highly regarded by parents and students. Most parents are active in their support for their children and the school. However, they are also very demanding and hold the school to account.

A High Achieving School

Kingsdale is a high achieving school and the majority of students thrive within an ethos of high expectations and challenge. I was able to meet with many students who told me they feel safe and secure and they feel valued. They know teachers and support staff care about them and that they will (and do) go the extra mile to support them and give up their time freely for additional classes and clubs. Students are very keen to learn and to achieve their very best. They were able to name several adults they would go to if they had concerns or worries. They say staff always have time for them. Students are competitive and eager to please and to challenge themselves. However, they continue to show concern for each other and are supportive of more vulnerable students.

Ofsted Outstanding Judgement

Having visited the school on many occasions I feel I know it well. I was delighted to hear about and to read your recent Ofsted Report (June 2017) where the school was judged to be outstanding in all areas. I know all the hard work that has gone on to make this outcome a reality and you are all to be congratulated.
