Kings Hill School Retains IQM Inclusive School Award

September 2, 2026

Congratulations to Kings Hill Primary and Nursery on successfully retaining the IQM Inclusive School Award. This achievement is a wonderful recognition of the school’s deeply embedded inclusive ethos, reflective leadership, and unwavering commitment to ensuring every pupil feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Through its nurturing culture, high aspirations, and child-centred approach, Kings Hill continues to demonstrate that inclusion is at the heart of everything it does.

Inclusion At Heart

Kings Hill Primary and Nursery is a highly inclusive school where the needs of every pupil are central to leadership decision-making and daily practice. Inclusion is not viewed as a discrete initiative but as the foundation upon which relationships, curriculum design and school improvement are built..

Success Through Support

The curriculum reflects the school’s determination that every pupil should experience success through adaptive teaching and carefully considered support. Staff demonstrated a growing understanding of attachment and trauma-informed practice, increasingly referring to “care-seeking behaviour” rather than attention-seeking behaviour, reflecting a deeper understanding that behaviour often communicates unmet need. Adults know pupils well, adapt learning effectively and maintain consistently high expectations.

Nurturing Positive Growth

Behaviour and personal development are significant strengths. The school’s existing lunchtime nurture arrangement is already having a positive impact on pupils who find unstructured times challenging. Teaching assistants described it as a trusted, calm environment where children help shape the activities, asking them, “This is your space. What would you like to do when you come in?”

Inclusion In Action

Kings Hill Primary and Nursery demonstrates a deeply embedded commitment to inclusion. The SENDCo reflected on the school’s determination to develop confident, resilient pupils who no longer require additional support to participate fully in school life. This is a school where inclusion is not simply an aspiration but a lived reality, evident in the decisions leaders make, the relationships staff build and the experiences of the pupils they serve.
