Congratulations to Godolphin Junior Academy on achieving the IQM Inclusive School Award with Flagship School status. A fantastic recognition of the school’s unwavering commitment to inclusion, excellence, and pupil success. This achievement reflects the dedication of staff, the strong partnership with parents, and the school’s ongoing commitment to adapting and improving to meet the needs of all learners. Well done to the entire Godolphin Junior Academy community on this well-deserved success.
Fresh Leadership Momentum
Godolphin Junior Academy (GJA) is a three-form entry primary school situated in the heart of Slough and is a member of the Park Federation Trust. One notable change is that a new Principal has been in post since the start of the Summer Term. She has brought fresh eyes to the school and shared that she has made some changes that have immediately impacted on the school’s performance.
Every Pupil Thrives
Godolphin Junior Academy offers a positive and supportive learning experience to the pupils and everyone is valued. The school’s reflective practice ensures that pupils’ needs are constantly being assessed and intervention and support is in place so that all can become the best version of themselves.
Adapting for Excellence
Provision Map is now more focused and showing the impact of interventions. TAs have been trained in the Engagement Model and the Inclusion Lead is involved in outreach work as well developing good practice in the school. High quality teaching and high order questioning continue to be a focus as is training on Adaptive Curriculum, thinking about those pupils in particular in the middle range and those in the high ability range. All of this is indicative of a school that is not standing still but is reflective and developing and adapting in order to meet pupil need.
Staff Support Shines
There is no doubt that staff feel valued and supported, whether this is through a TA appreciation day or the Wellbeing Pot or staff shout outs and being given a day off if you run a club. Senior leaders are seen to have an open-door policy and are ready to help. It was good to hear that the new Principal has been welcomed and that the changes she has made have been readily accepted.
Parents Praise Partnership
The parents gave amazing feedback about the staff and what was really positive was how supportive they were with each other. Parents spoke about the challenges their children had but how supportive staff had been to them so that they could better understand their children’s needs. Parents know that they are listened to and that staff know and understand the needs of their children and do all they can to support them.
