E-ACT The Grange School Achieves IQM Inclusive School Award

Congratulations to everyone at E-ACT The Grange School on achieving the IQM Inclusive School Award. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to the dedication, passion and hard work of staff, pupils, parents, carers and Trust leaders who have worked together to create a school where inclusion truly sits at the heart of everything they do.  

Inclusion Drives Excellence  

Leaders speak passionately about inclusion saying, “it is at the heart of everything we do at The Grange.” They share the same inclusive aspirations for all children. This view is also shared by Trust leaders. The E-ACT Education Director who works with the school said, “there is a passion for inclusion at all levels in E-ACT from school level to Trustees.” The Trust’s vision is that “every child can access their learning” and “there is equity for all.”  

Raising Behaviour Standards  

Expectations for the children are clear. These were revised and reset by the new Headteacher when she was appointed, and a new relational behaviour policy is in place. Behaviour for learning expectations were made clear to all including the introduction of line ups in the mornings to ensure a positive start to the day. The mantra of ‘Every child, every lesson, every day’ has maintained the sharp focus on expectations and the development of ‘good learning habits’. As a result, leaders have seen ‘significantly improved behaviour’ across the school.   

Ambition Fuels Success  

Leaders are clearly ambitious for all pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and in terms of personal development. The focus on behaviour for learning and ‘The Grange Way’ has been welcomed by staff and parents with one Parent Ambassador telling the assessor how behaviour has much improved at the school since the appointment of the new Headteacher, “parents are happier with the school” and how they had seen their child’s behaviour “improve in leaps and bounds.” The Headteacher talked about the “big journey” that the school has been on.  

Parents Shape Progress  

Leaders value strong relationships with parents and carers and greet parents and carers at the gates every morning. They continue to work hard to improve communication with families and the appointment of two Parent Ambassadors who meet regularly with the Headteacher has been pivotal in supporting this drive. Feedback about the school is valued and one Parent Ambassador explained her role as, “bridging the gap between parents and school.”. They appreciate being heard and describe this as “important for the school to be at the centre of the community.” 

Nurturing Every Learner 

There is a very caring environment at The Grange School where everyone is respected and valued. The school follows the Curriculum with Unity Schools Partnership (CUSP) which is well sequenced, broad and knowledge-rich allowing all pupils to build on their learning and to gain the essential skills and knowledge that they need to be successful. Through the school values of ‘Excellence, Resilience, Empathy, Respect, Integrity and Curiosity’, leaders encourage The Grange pupils to become ambitious and confident learners. Overall, teaching and learning at The Grange School demonstrates inclusive practice and a shared commitment to ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
