Kindness in Action

Behaviour throughout the school is calm and respectful. There is a high premium placed on helping one another and this can be seen most clearly during unstructured times, when older pupils take their roles as buddies extremely seriously. The needs of pupils are considered through sensory circuits, areas for regulation, teaching and learning about emotion and the management of behaviour through the curriculum. Proactive teaching, which anticipates flashpoints and pre teaches to mitigate potential problems, is consistently practised.

Connected to Community

There are strong links with the wider community, and these add great benefits to learners in terms of inclusion. Resources in school are carefully considered to reflect the diversity of the global population. An innovative approach is used, whereby protected characteristics are explicitly taught and then indicated throughout curriculum materials, displays, and resources using symbols. The school is a leading member of HPAN (Halton Primary Arts Network) which promotes art within the local area and affords pupils the opportunity to work with their fellow students from other schools, and to create exhibitions and performances. Visual art and music are key elements of the curriculum and promote inclusion through the opportunity for all to succeed, the raising of aspiration for all pupils and the sense of connection and community which participation in these events engenders.
