Congratulations to Kenton School on achieving the IQM Inclusive School Award. This recognition celebrates the school’s strong commitment to inclusion, its caring culture, and its determination to ensure every student is valued, supported and able to thrive.
Inclusion Without Limits
Kenton School is a strong and clearly articulated inclusive school. It has an ethos, with substantial systems of support, and a broad range of provision which is strategically designed to remove barriers to learning and participation.
Different Yet Equal
Inclusion is clearly articulated as a central feature of Kenton School’s identity. The school’s motto, ‘all different, all equal’, provides a very simple and memorable statement of its ethos and commitment to celebrating difference of all students, whilst maintaining high expectations for everyone.
Values Into Action
The school actively seeks to translate values into practical action. Weekly inclusion meetings provide a structured forum for considering students’ attendance, SEND needs, pastoral concerns, safeguarding, communication and intervention. The school has a dedicated SEND department and Additional Resource Provision (ARP), alongside tailored learning plans and support strategies for students with SEND and EAL needs.
Support Through Leadership
The Leadership Team are nurturing a caring and supportive culture where, each and every member of the Kenton community, is valued and appreciated. The weekly inclusion meetings link ‘deep support’ together with attendance, SEND, pastoral and wellbeing information, safeguarding concerns, communication, and intervention monitoring and tracking.
Ambitious Curriculum Pathways
The curriculum is one of the strongest aspects of Kenton School’s inclusive practice. Leaders describe an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum designed to meet the needs of students regardless of their starting point, background or additional identified need. The intent of the curriculum is to provide Kenton students with the knowledge and skills required for future education, employment and training, while also developing character, cultural capital, creativity, resilience and independence.
